Impact Resistance

Using ASTM D-2794 testing, Icon Rocklear withstands impact at 120 in/lbs., compared to just 80 in/lbs. for professional ceramics.
However, a coating must be flexible in order to absorb road debris strikes. If it’s too strong or cures too hard, the coating will crack easily. Mandrel Bend Testing confirms this claim. Icon Rocklear coating did not crack, even through a ⅛ inch, 180-degree bend (tested using ASTM D522).

Coating Longevity
Icon Rocklear is a hybrid paint coating that’s designed to handle hostile environments and vehichles that are exposed to harsh dust storms common in Arizona.
Our coating lasts 3x longer than traditional ceramic coatings, holding up to 1,000 hours of extreme, accelerated data salt spray testing (ASTM B117) without a single change, compared to only 350 hours with most ceramic coatings.
Additionally, adhesion matters when Arizona’s desert heat tries to wear everything down. Our ASTM D4541 adhesion testing showed that 420 psi is required to separate our coating from the bonded surface.

UV Weathering Exposure

A single layer of Icon Rocklear can achieve a Wet Film Thickness (WFT measurement) up to 100 microns. This is more than 30-times the thickness of the highest grade ceramic coatings (3 microns on leading ceramic coatings – single layer).
